It's Hard and It Hurts

Sometimes things can be pointy in life.  Quite pokey in fact.  With thorns.

Wandering about looking at other peoples' fluffy chicks and floppy puppy ears makes it worse. These people have nothing but weird looks for small pointy triangles.

So, life goes on.  People get perfectly groomed lawns to go with their floppy puppies and docile hens that never make noise.  Sometimes while everyone else gets perkier, life only accumulates more of the same pointyness.

It's nothing personal.  Just mathematics.  Or genetics.  Or the order forming out of chaos.

After a time, it becomes futile to question why.  It makes more sense to not tell people that the last time a silver lining was looked for it seemed to be made of slime.  People like their euphemism to work, allowing them to exit the scene without contracting any thorns, slime or pokes.

So, it's better to jut let them.  Let them go back to the things that they have, away from the things they don't want.  To the wonderful, desirable things that everyone cannot have.

Until one day, it's different.

Maybe it's someone asking for help with slime.  Or someone remarks that they like the shade of those thorns.  It might just be something discovered in the mirror one day.

Suddenly it's breathtaking.

The pattern is unmistakable, so beautiful and unique.  Even the thorns and color contribute to the overall picture.  It doesn't make life any different than it was.

It just makes more sense.

  1. I love this and am stealing this:

sometimes things can be POINTY in life.

its a perfect way of phrasing for me and FOR MY DAUGHTER.

    she "gets" pointy.

  3. So eloquent.
I'll bet that even the puppy ears people have their own versions of pointy.
But I agree - your pointy (and your slime) is beautiful. And yours.
    I love you mucho.

  5. beautiful. it also helps me to know that everyone has or WILL have their thorns at some point. they could very well be completely different than my thorns and, in fact, i might not even see theirs as thorns, but they are, for them.

  6. What a beautiful post! It feels as if they are my own words for my own life and my own perspective. If you see the leaf by itself, it's pointy and jaggedly (yes, I made it up). But if you look at the plant as a whole, it's gorgeous and I wouldn't want to trade it. My life...

    Thank you for writing that.

It's Here

We got the moving truck rather unexpectedly. It's more expensive than Mr. Survival planned, so we're doing a lot of lifting, cardio, and squats. No. We're not doing the bootcamp in a trailer. We ARE moving things to the new garage, since we can't move in yet, but they're being kind enough to let us dump in a storage manner. Sorry. I'll have to beg your forgiveness and promise to update you. Eventually.

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...

Hippity Hop

I hope it doesn't matter that it's been a week or so since my post on her...but I do have a fabulous special needs daughter.   THIS   and   THAT   are my most recent musings on Special Needs parenting. I'm not sure what I think about either one. It's about being out in public.   Thanks to Sunday at Adventures in Extreme Parenthood   I can handle this blog hop on a week as crazy as this.  I'm excited to visit all these excellent blogs. Stay tuned next week though, for updates on Chickadee's G-tube surgery, moving and The Beast and it's sugar-free diet.  Thanks for playing along at home. I really couldn't do it without you all. Oh, and visit my Facebook Page to see how my weigh-in went this week for GAG.   **I just figured out that  Super Mommy to the Rescue  and Autism Learning Felt  are the sponsoring blogs.  Please follow them if you link up!
