Obsession

Well?

I got up today. Had a good seven and a half hours of sleep. I got in my walk, after a good deal of numb mind bargaining. I look at it as an investment in myself, not as a half hour of wasted time on the potty.

It's a three therapist day today. Not brilliant at all, but we'll live through it.

I hope.

I've got a new project that I'm working on, it's making me crazy. I love it. I hate it. But I love it ten times more.  It's distracting me from your lovely blogs, and making my usual comments.  Boo.

I've been great, minus one Saturday minor slip-up, on the no sugar dealie that I promised Drazil and Yum Yucky. I was hoping it would make a difference on the scale, even though I hinted it wasn't a big deal. It hasn't yet.

Giving up sugar is hard for me, so I expected the usual 2-3 pound insta-drop that I usually get. I'm really glad I have this new project I'm obsessing working on. I've only noticed I don't get sugar when the kids' screaming breaks through my concentration and I stress out for twenty minutes trying to get them fed. It's not a great situation. For them.

Oh, I can be evil.

What are YOUR best diversions from your [diet] misery?

just a random thing I'd like to obsess about, but I'm not currently

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE

  1. The blog world is my best diversion! And anything I do out of the house: exercise, shopping, physical therapy. Some days I just need to go somewhere to get away from thinking about food. But what a conundrum with the blog world - I write and read about food and diets - the very thing I am trying to distract from!

  2. Oh honey, I know from obsession! I hear you loud and clear. I'm on day 5 of total clean food with no sugar or flour, and withdrawal is definitely upon me.

I'm with Karen - blogging is a good diversion. Sometimes it's prayer - as in "Please relieve me of this obsession/affliction because without Divine Intervention, I don't think I can handle it." Sometimes it works to just say to myself, "You're not having anything else, period." Any port in a storm that will take me in.

  3. I know it doesn't make much sense (I think), but not eating sugar for so long makes me NOT want to eat it. Yesterday something weird happened and I craved it, but my no-sugar training gave me ample superpowers to tell it to shut da hellz up. Ya know?

  4. One of the best obsessions ever.

  5. I've never been able to find a permenent diversion which is what I need, no doubt. In other words, what works one time: wait 15 minutes, drink water, take a walk, blog, etc. doesn't necessarily work the next. That's usually when I just freaking give in.

  9. I'm with Josie/YumYucky. The longer I go without eating sugar and/or any other type of thing I crave, the less I want it...and the more disappointed I am in whatever it is if I DO have it.

As for diversions? OMG...Twitter, Facebook, and reading other blogs are my top three...

  10. You're a tease! What's this project you're working on? *gnaws on furniture legs in the time it takes you to answer*

And my best diversions? Getting REALLY into something else, like having a really good conversation with someone usually does the trick...but those're kinda hard to control for me. Ummmm...other than that, I's gots nothin'.

  11. You're giving up sugar?? That's it - you are freaking SuperWoman in disguise aren't you? What else do you? Poop gold bricks? I've tried - I cannot do it (translation: I don't really want to)...but maybe my little JBS you have inspired me to try again!

It's Here

We got the moving truck rather unexpectedly. It's more expensive than Mr. Survival planned, so we're doing a lot of lifting, cardio, and squats. No. We're not doing the bootcamp in a trailer. We ARE moving things to the new garage, since we can't move in yet, but they're being kind enough to let us dump in a storage manner. Sorry. I'll have to beg your forgiveness and promise to update you. Eventually.

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...
