Bad Day, I Think I'll Go Eat Worms

Or not! I decided to focus on the positive and use some of the awards that have been collecting out there in cybersphere. Thanks to Pam @ The Rest of the Journey and Karen @ Waisting Time for the Beautiful Blogger award. So wonderfully sweet of them. You should read their blogs. They are super inspiring.

Pam has been trying to lose weight for a while, but then got pregnant. I hope she doesn't mind my talking about it, but she lost her little baby before it could survive. She is back to struggling with her health, and could use as much encouragement as we can give her!

Karen is so intelligent. She's introspective and an excellent writer. I feel better every single time I read her. She always has some way to spin her thoughts into an uplifting achievable medium.

I received this award before, so please check out the POST to see my referrals!

Funky 5 Meme!!!

Traci @ Traci's Treasures gave me the Funky 5 Meme Funky 5 Meme It's a take from Glee where you try to get out of your funk by switching it up a little.

Where were you 5 years ago?
Beansprout was 4 months old. I was managing a dorm for girls. Beansprout was refluxing a nightmare and had unveiled his stick-like genetics. He started out at ten pounds, but quickly grew into it. Also, the dorm girls were starting to drive me crazy.

5 things on your to do list today
* Treadmill
* Laundry
* Physical Therapy for Chickadee
* Library Storytime
* Park excursion

5 snacks you enjoy
* Brie on Wasa crackers with grapes on the side
* Apple with peanut butter
* Graham Crackers always dipped in milk
* Veggies and dip
* Icing for one on anything

What are 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire?
* Hire therapists for Chickadee
* Buy service dog for Chickadee
* Hire a maid
* Write professionally
* Set up a nonprofit comprehensive Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Social Health clinic for women everywhere. Free to the poorest, but allowing them to use their talents to 'pay back' into the network.

So here's the 5 I'm tagging: I loved Traci's idea so I picked the last 5 people who commented on my blog.

  • Jenn @ Watch My Butt Shrink
    Jenn is pregnant with her first boy! She has two princesses at home. She is caring, and I got to meet her in person! She gets up at 5:10 in the am and tucks tail to the gym. *awesome*
  • Nona @ 55 Kgs Nona is living in London! Sigh. So exotic. One of her rewards is to go to Paris for the weekend. Really. Sign me up! She is trying to get healthy by walking the streets instead of taking the bus since her elliptical is broken.
  • Deep Fried Fruit I love her. She has a funny take on just about everything, yet gets me thinking about many important questions. She says that now that she's forty, she feels like a deep fried fruit. Is it good for you or not? Is it mostly good...or not? Read her post about a unique storage system for women on the go! Sure to make you laugh.
  • Shannon @ Superwoman in Spirit She finished her journey as FabFattieShan and is now Superwoman in Spirit. Kudos to her! She is often supporting a wonderful cause, and is just a wonderful caring person.
  • Lisa @ No More Diet Drama
    She is amazing and honest. She is trying to achieve a balanced weight management that doesn't cause her to go crazy over her scale. They have a very dramatic relationship. Reminiscent of a soap opera, and she's sick of it!

These are great people to have on your lists!

  1. Stay away from those worms. They may be full of protein but they're pretty yucky, as I found out last week on my blog!

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

We Did It!

We raised $5597 at FirstGiving.com We raised $25 on Facebook with Paypal Ryan and Deb raised $1000 for a new website . And? That puts us over the top! Even when we factor in any fees that Paypal, Firstgiving, or Ryan incur due to credit card use fees, we are over. So. What does that mean? We are on our way! At Midwest Assistance Dogs, they are excited about training a dog for Chickadee. It's a unique situation that has never been done before, so I appreciate all of you being supportive and open minded about it. We are still discovering the ways that Chickadee can be benefited by her Service Dog. So, I'm working with the director. He is reviewing our life, and bouncing ideas off me as to what will work. What does that mean? I don't have a specific doggie, or date yet. It depends on what is realistic for the dog to learn, and for Chickadee/I to be able to help it execute. Basically it's gonna take time, research and experimentation. Usually? i...

Don't Make Me Say It

Okay. Deep breath. Again. Okay. So . . . I hate to alarm you, but I have a rather prolonged problem over here.  At least two years in the making I would say.  I've seen two doctors, and used four or five over the counter remedies.  Sounds like  a problem, right? But, it goes back even farther than that.  At the ripe age of fifteen years old, I had a septic hip , which is basically a staph infection that invades a joint.  In other words, it declares nuclear warfare and plays for keeps.  If they hadn't operated immediately I would have lost my hip joint within a couple of days. As you can imagine they blasted me with the full arsenal of antibiotics. They left the incision open for 4 days in order to be able to administer antibiotics directly to the joint.  I know, I know.  GROSS.  Sorry, I just find myself repeating the gory details like a labor and delivery story.  Or a combat tale. Anyway, I found myself after this wi...
