First of all, to truly understand in context, I must explain to you in Gory detail. Yesterday was a very difficult day. Traveling is always hard. For both of us.
But yesterday, the doctor's visit was horrifying. Not only was there an unusual amount of detail-mineral and vitamin absorption, bowel and swallowing habits, regressions, physical strengths, Momma's mental stamina, potty training-but there was also a problem.
Chickadee needed me to hold her the entire afternoon and evening after her first day at the new preschool. I worried that she might be sick. But there was no fever. Just Mommaness. Then while I was on the treadmill Chickadee woke up yesterday and had a pretty bad diaper. Mr. Survival deserves a reward.
Josie at YumYucky told me Tuesday about the Barfing Boat.
And it's a good thing. We were at the Doctor's office. Chickadee was stripped down to her diaper, but was wearing my Christmas present I made her. This one:
It caught all of it. All the poop that came out the back, the front, the legs, everywhere. Poor doctor ran around like a crazy lady. It was bad. Then, Chickadee proceeded to not choose between her hunger and her congestion. She just yelled. At the doctor, at the nurse with her plastic bags toincinerate obliterate the stench, at me, at the dietician, and luckily she had run out of steam by the time we checked out.
She had a rough day, and luckily only cried a tiny bit on our 3.5 hour drive home. We're at home today weathering full blown flu. Vomiting, aches, poopiness. It's a secret whose symptoms are whose here. But we're both miserable.
Do you have any idea what could make such a potentially "worst day ever" a great day?
No wait, Look again!

That's a total of $3,949 raised for Chickadee's dog. My phone kept pinging with emails telling me that contributions had been made, that it was being bounced around Twitter, and that people care about my little Chickadee.
Here is a list of all the people posting, tweeting, and loving my little Chickadee:
(please let me know if you have a post, and I'll get it up)
And SEVENTY ONE donations in the past two days!
My family and friends had previously donated on THIS page which is what takes us up to practically $4,000 dollars.
That could make any bad day a good one. Believe you me. I love you all! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Please remember to donate for Chickadee's therapy dog, or Spread the word if you've already done your part!

I hope Chickadee feels better soon. So sorry you had such a rough day. Many hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking a dog might cheer her up. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the last two days has been watching that total steadily climb!
ReplyDeleteI posted on my blog just in case someone stops by (I think everyone's given up on me since I've been on blogging hiatus for two+ months.)
Oh wow!! JBS. That is extraordinary. Well done. I mean the fundraising. Not the flu. That is terrible for everyone concerned. That sounds like a very very VERY bad day. I have similar stories but nothing that quite tops that one (all things considered).
ReplyDeleteChickadee is gonna get her doggy. This is really gonna happen! Right now I'm envisioning those first doggy pics on the blog. The Dog Blog! <-- okay, that was corny
ReplyDeleteI totally have a post up if you want to link it for people. This makes me smile...ear to ear...feel better...both of you.
ReplyDelete@Polar's Mom, @Kelly, and @Drazil, thanks for reminding me. My browser crashed while I was trying to write this post. I'm so happy that you all have helped out in this way.
ReplyDelete@Polar, I love your story. Thanks for perpetuating the love that an animal can bring to people.
@Kyra, thank you. I'm sure we'll feel better with rest. <3
@MrsFatass, Yeah, I'm thinking so!
@Kelly, your writing is awesome. It doesn't matter if it's been years. Ink doesn't rust. It just ripens.
@Langdowns, It is wonderful, isn't it? We will feel better, and the fundraising has helped immensely. Thanks for your own help!
@YumYucky, So much sooner than I ever thought! Dog Blog. AWEsome. I'll have to ask Roni how to do that feed thingy she has so it can all combine here! ;)
@Drazil. I love making you smile. Thanks for your hard work. You rock.
lovelovelovelove all the love here.
ReplyDeleteLOVE.
I just don't know how you do it. But as moms, I know that sometimes we just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I hope you don't mind that I put Chickadee's pic on my post: http://how-i-am-losing-it.blogspot.com/2011/01/139-on-completely-different-note.html
ReplyDeleteI want to help, I e-mailed you with some ideas that I could do for you!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to help as well. I have tweeted, re-tweeted, and even posted on facebook. I sure hope she gets her doggy soon. She definitely deserves it!
