Iron Rod

by: mish@eatingjourney.com

When your life is crazy that’s when you think that you can’t handle anymore.

I don’t know about you, but I think that JBS is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. She knows her faith, loves her family, never gives up hope to help her kids and is always loving on other people. She has written about her struggles and her weight on my blog.

Throughout my own journey of healing from a pretty crap relationship and then binge eating and weight gain I have come to the realisation that my own ability to handle what life throws at me is a heck of a lot more than I thought I could handle. I honestly do believe that after getting over the negative mental state that I was in, letting go of some insecurities and moving into a place of calm I realised something very profound.

I can endure.

Perhaps many of our journeys are ones with horrible stories, awkward stages, heart break, tragedies, abuse, weight gain, lost jobs etc. It is either those stories which hold us into like a snuggled blanket or it’s those stories which give us wings to soar above. I know that sounds a bit eweey-gooey, but in all honesty I truthfully believe that it’s what makes or breaks people.

So I write this piece at this moment to not only take up the amazing ability to guest post here, because JBS does need a break. But what I think her story, my story and your story remind us all of us the in our fragility of our human spirit is an unflappable iron rod of strength. Don’t be afraid to use it.

When did you use your iron rod of strength?

  1. I have been continually impressed with JBS. She has so much more on her plate than I do, than most of us do! And yet she is not only there for her family but for other bloggers too.

  2. Stuff happens. I get through it. And then I reflect with amazement at how strong I've become. We go from strength to strength. Lately I'm amazed at my patience with extremely difficult people. Even as early as one year ago, my way of handling it (based on a lesser amount of strength) would have been totally different with a bad outcome. Strength Conditioning is more than lifting free weights. teehee

  3. This is the second time I'm reading this post. I don't know how to reply because everthing I'd have wanted to say is already said better than I could :)

JBS you are an inspiration and God bless you!

  4. My Iron rod of strenght is held on one end by me and the other by my Father in Heaven and balanced by my brother Jesus Christ. I could not do anything without them. I think the hardest time I had hanging on was when I lived in the hospital waiting for Jer to get bigger and stronger and come home. I think now of all that JBS faces and I know she will endure but it sure is hard somedays. I love how she reaches out to us all even on some of the craziest of her days and lifts us up so we can hang on to that rod just a bit tighter. And by the way your great Mish for helping her that way.

It's Here

We got the moving truck rather unexpectedly. It's more expensive than Mr. Survival planned, so we're doing a lot of lifting, cardio, and squats. No. We're not doing the bootcamp in a trailer. We ARE moving things to the new garage, since we can't move in yet, but they're being kind enough to let us dump in a storage manner. Sorry. I'll have to beg your forgiveness and promise to update you. Eventually.

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...

Hippity Hop

I hope it doesn't matter that it's been a week or so since my post on her...but I do have a fabulous special needs daughter.   THIS   and   THAT   are my most recent musings on Special Needs parenting. I'm not sure what I think about either one. It's about being out in public.   Thanks to Sunday at Adventures in Extreme Parenthood   I can handle this blog hop on a week as crazy as this.  I'm excited to visit all these excellent blogs. Stay tuned next week though, for updates on Chickadee's G-tube surgery, moving and The Beast and it's sugar-free diet.  Thanks for playing along at home. I really couldn't do it without you all. Oh, and visit my Facebook Page to see how my weigh-in went this week for GAG.   **I just figured out that  Super Mommy to the Rescue  and Autism Learning Felt  are the sponsoring blogs.  Please follow them if you link up!
