If I'm Not Back Tomorrow

Today I'm going to Big City.  Three and a half hours away.  We do it in a day, all the time.

The plan is that I will do C25K week two day three.  Before I go.

Hopefully, I will take very very good care of me.  I've packed healthy food for me, and six bottles of her drink that costs an arm and a leg.  We'll head out with the other kids as they catch the bus at 7:05 AM.  After waving, we'll head on our way.

Then we will spend the entire day taking care of her.  We'll talk to them about how her eating skills are deteriorating.  How she can't keep down but 75% of her drinks and won't eat solid foods hardly at all anymore.  We'll weigh her in.  We'll deal with the panic of the doctors.  Hopefully she won't be hospitalized.  It's probably a 15-20% chance that she will.  They will tell me something that will inevitably make me cry on the drive home.

It will suck.

But then, I will also get to tell them.  I will use it like dollops of whipped cream on sour cherries.  That she said NO out loud Thursday.  And "D" while patting her diaper.  That she is doing the potty sign again after two years!  And that she did it for three days in a row.

We will talk about preschool.  And how for picture day, Miss THANG came flouncing in convinced of her beauty.  She talked excitedly to Chickadee about picture day, and how Chickadee gets to go to school again even though it's not her normal day.  She asked her little sister if she wanted her hair curled like hers.  Chickadee beamed like she'd worn her first princess crown.  Miss THANG asked if she wanted to wear her pretty pink Sunday dress.  Her little body wriggled with excitement and anticipation as she looked over at me.

I'd never even thought to ask her that.  I'm so glad she has a sister.

And Beansprout.  He careens her wheelchair like no one else, and she lights up for him in a way she doesn't for anybody else.  They are pals for life.

We love her so much it hurts.

*photo from HERE but edited by me to show Chickadee's area** of difficulty*
**her area of difficulty is the weak muscles in her tongue, and most especially the flap that closes off the lungs from food and liquids**

  2. Oh yes, the part where you "get to tell them" is awesome to read about!!! I'm with you girl (invisibly) as you ride the trip up and back). And so glad shared on Chickadee's area of difficulty. Now I know how to better pray. Yes, I am one of those beautiful "fools" that believes God hears my prayers... (and He hears yours, too).

  3. I never wanted siblings. Mum asked me a few times (not that she wanted a second kid, didn't wanna feel selfish in case I wanted one) I didn't even have to think about it. I just didn't want sisters, brothers or inbetweeners. My boyfriend wants two kids... big deal to me. Then again I get to hear about sibling stories like your kids and I think... I might work. (May be I need someone to give birth the second child, then I would have less objections)

Good luck to you my friend. I am also joining the prayer group of your readers for both of you ♥

It's Here

We got the moving truck rather unexpectedly. It's more expensive than Mr. Survival planned, so we're doing a lot of lifting, cardio, and squats. No. We're not doing the bootcamp in a trailer. We ARE moving things to the new garage, since we can't move in yet, but they're being kind enough to let us dump in a storage manner. Sorry. I'll have to beg your forgiveness and promise to update you. Eventually.

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...
