Sassy

So, a huge part of the reason I started this journey was because I lost it. I felt like a mooshy mallow. I actually felt worse than that. I felt like a sexless pod. One that recharged at night and bumped around pointlessly like a Roomba* after. My life was in shambles-if you remember-but I let my self slip away.

I was reading around the blogoshpere when I ran into some inspiration:

Operation Sexification Points and Goals.

Exercise.

I'm not trying to just dehydrate here. I am flat chested, but Hubbend had other curves he appreciated. Believe me, my hips are not going anywhere. Also, my booty consistently requires me to purchase jeans a size larger than my waist. Get the picture? So, I want to build up my chest, and take down my abs and posterior. Abs in, butt lifted.

This means adding in strength. Do I have time for this guys?

Makeup.

I wear nothing. When I went to Stockholm I did wear it all the time. I didn't wear eyeliner and blush once, and three people told me I looked tired. So. I want to wear some. Barely there for day to day enhancement. I need ideas people.

Clothes.

I want to know what's in style. I want to know what makes my body look fabulous. I have a general idea. But, I want to remember.

I'm smiling like a cheshire cat. Can't you hear it through the screen?

Now. I want to hear. What are you going to do to work on stirring those pots?

This whole concept comes from Mary @ a merry life. Please go and read her inspirational post.

  2. This is so fantastic that you've joined the Operation that Mary set in place. I'm still trying to figure out how to go about it. Can't wait to see your progress!

  3. The make up thing: I wear Dove tinted moisturiser - I swear by it it, and sweet relief, it is so economical! It just gives a barely there glow......(and fills in a few cracks.....)

  4. I like that these things are about how you feel about things other than just weight. For makeup I love Bare Essentials (you can get it at QVC) It's a power based makeup with no junky chemicals. Easy to wear, fast to put on. Not that I put it on all the time, but when I do!

  5. I need me some sexification! LOL!

I think you can fit in a little strength training. I remember doing a 10 minute little session set up by 2 blog extraordinaires. I will email you the link. *writing it down now, so I don't forget*

I agree with Diane on the Bare Essentials - love it.

Clothes - I still wear Mom Jeans. Clearly, I am no help in this department ;)

  6. I am a lazy, sloppy dresser. I hardly even put on earrings anymore. Sad really. And my body sounds so like yours - no boobs, butt and hips much bigger than my waist making it hard find pants that fit. I can hear your smile - I can see you gearing up. You look beautiful in my mind.

  7. Yes...I too have the big butt little waist syndrome. Jeans!! Ugh!!

  8. Physicians Formula has great makeup. You can buy at at any drugstore and it's very gentle on the skin for every day use.
My favorite is their mineral wear. It goes on just like Bare Minerals and feels like nothing is on.
The BEST mascara is Covergirl. The original cheap stuff.
The only place I spend any real money is on my lips. I big puffy heart MAC Lip Glass. It's about $20.00 per tube, but it the only thing I've found that doesn't make my lips peel and doesn't smell too perfumy.
Not sure how old you are, but if you're old enough to have any eye creases (I refuse to say wrinkles or lines) then make sure you only use matte eyeshadows, nothing shiny as it settles into creases and emphasizes them.
Remember to only play up one feature. Eyes or Lips!

  9. I am feeling sexy (at 41) for the first time in a while. I don't wear makeup and never do anything fancier with my hair than tie it in a knot on top of my head, for the gym, or put it in a braid to save against the wind. I am a hippie tomboy chemist who is too afraid of chemicals to wear makeup. Or too lazy, but I see no need, and would likely attract the wrong attention from men if I did it. I'm just glad that clothes fit, and I can wear them tight (not slutty, just fitting).

Muscles are great. I totally suggest weight training, I used to hate it, now I crave. It really makes a difference.

  10. I try to look my best every day even when I was over weight. I made a commitment to do so when I became a stay at home mom and I never regretted it. My daughter and I were talking about this yesterday and she said even when I was heavy she thought I was beautiful because I always cared about me appearance.

I second Bare Essentials, I got it for Mother's Day and I love it. I use Cover Girl mascara and Lip color by Laura Mercier.Go to the make up counter at a nice department store and get a free make over. Try some different brands and choose your favorite.

Nordstorm's and some Macy's have personal shoppers that will help you find the right style for your lifestyle and body shape.

If you don't already have them get some feminine night gowns, sexy bras and panties. What a difference they make in how you feel about yourself!

Find a tailor and get those jeans tailored to fit your body. I have had clothes tailored for my very tall but thin son and what a difference. Things right off the rack don't usually fit him very well.

I am excited for you and the changes you are seeking to make!

  11. I LOVE this! Maybe I need to adopt this too....of course, right now showering and dressing every day would be a step up, but we won't go there....
Its going to make a huge difference & I can't wait to see it!

  12. This is one of the subjects I can't talk about on my blog! Cos I let myboyfriend read it. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!

I lost my confidence or whatever a while ago. I'm evens cared to get it back I guess. There is always this "you'll feel better once you lose more" but geez everything is related to each other and I guess I'm gonna have to deal with it soon. I wasn't like this before. I wasn't even close to feeling this way. I don't know what happened.

Good luck to you though. That's an awesome plan. You go girl! ♥

  13. I know you didn't really ask, but I have to suggest that since you have such nice long legs, I bet you'll love Gap's bootcut jeans, especially the Tall ones if they fit you like they fit me!! Tailors do wonders for that whole waist/hip difference, too--and I only paid $5 to have a pair taken in.

You have a gorgeous collarbone and your cheekbones are to DIE for, and your legs are ah-maaaa-zing! Not to mention your "alabaster brow" (to borrow from Anne Shirley.) Also, I love how your hair is naturally, it just has its own OOMPH, vavoom that you work so well. :D

I know it's cheating, but I bought a tank shaper from HerRoom a month or two ago, and it's just so nice to be able to wear shirts without having to overly worry about my love handles sticking out. For reals though, I'm going on a lot more walks to get some sun (because sun really helps my mood, therefore my sexification) and by actually showering and taking care of myself and look good like Tami only much lazier...but yeah. :D Trying to look good just for me and my husband instead of only for everyone else really makes a big difference.

  14. I need to stir the darn pot harder for a couple three weeks..then revisit this post. Hey....if you feel like it...come join my "Race to 10" challenge. The more the merrier....and it will be a fun and healthy competition. :)

  15. Wow, what great comments! I'm getting excited to jump on the sexification bandwagon [btw, not one double-entendre was intended ;)].

Taking care of ourselves, making us pretty . . . what a concept! Thanks for the motivation, JBS!

    MMMWWWAAAAAHH

  16. Yep, I read that post by Mary too, and am all for some sexification. One product I like is Georgia Peach by Benefit - it is something that you can throw on your face with or without foundation and it gives you an all over finished look. I don't do foundation or blush - just eyes and lips. With 4 kids I am all for quick and easy products.

I have a jean-waist issue to, but it is due as much to my thighs being larger as it is my butt. Not fun. Clothing is an area that I am trying to be better in, and one thing I have been doing is trying on things that I wouldn't normally, or that I would usually think look good on other people but not on me. I have found some great things that way (and some that still just look bad!) Not all styles look good on everyone, so I just have to try and try and try.

In regards to your comment to me about killing that ugly feeling with kindness: I did go out and buy a sexy new pair of heels today to go with a couple of new stylish dresses I bought for church, and I'll be danged if it didn't make me feel better! One step to sexification - check!

  17. sexification - great word! for make up-I go simple and inexpensive, like neutrogena, although I do splurge once in a while on a good wrinkle cream or moisterizer. Good luck on your journey to a better you, inside and out!

It's Here

We got the moving truck rather unexpectedly. It's more expensive than Mr. Survival planned, so we're doing a lot of lifting, cardio, and squats. No. We're not doing the bootcamp in a trailer. We ARE moving things to the new garage, since we can't move in yet, but they're being kind enough to let us dump in a storage manner. Sorry. I'll have to beg your forgiveness and promise to update you. Eventually.

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...
