Dear Blog,

It's not you. It's me.

Don't change a thing because you're perfect the way you are.

You know how I am. I dropped Facebook in RealLife like a hot potato once you and I got going. My personal blog hasn't been updated in months. You changed my life. You validate me. Give me motivation and purpose.

It's just that now that six months have gone by, the shiny has worn off. I'm pushing too hard to keep up the pace. I just need some time.

Okay, so it's only been five months. But from the first weekend I was dragging my feet. You remember that right? The goal was enticing, goading.

But now, I need to find the perseverance to keep on for the whole year. I know this might be a deal breaker to you. But, the truth is that I make the rules here. If you don't like it, I'm sure there's someone else willing to change. Jack Sh*t has never missed a day for instance. And the Anti-Jared is pretty die hard too.

I'm sure you've figured it out by now. I'm taking weekends off.

Because RealLife is beautiful.

I want to be Present.

I promise to be back to 'work' fresh as a daisy on Monday.

XOXOXO

  3. You and your family NEED and DESERVE you to rest . . . and you ain't no quitter, baby, so ease up on yourself. I'm super-proud of you for taking care of yourself.

And, like pretty much everyone here, I love you and your words! And you deserve to hear that too!!!

  5. Aww girl we all need space. And spending time with family is the best way to have a weekend ( even if one has man-flu )

I miss days as well. There are time that I just draw a blank and don't know what to write.

We'll be here for ya, no matter how often you write.

    xoxo

  6. OMG - I may have to totally use this post! I have been toying with the notion of taking weekends off myself. Right now it is only one day. But it is quite nice to not feel the need to get up and publish every day. So after my blog polls last week and seeing how many other bloggers don't post daily, I am thinking this is my next move too. And I also was thinking I need to announce that. For those who follow but don't subscribe. Sorry... here I am going on and on about myself but you hit this one just right for me.

That said - I think you should always make your blog what works for you and makes you happy. If that means blogging less, that is what you should do. Life is busy and stressful enough - the blog should take you away from it, not add to it. IMO.

    Enjoy your time to yourself:)

  7. Weekends off should be a priority. I take weekends off, and usually one weekday to boot. We're not going anywhere.

  8. Bravo!Life is about finding a balance that works for us. I will follow your blog and enjoy your posts when you choose to do them. No worries. I applaud you for this!

I posted something similar the other day that my posts will not be every day over the summer. I have too much I want to do to be tied down to my PC.

I have seen several other bloggers talking about this very subject. Maybe it is the time of year and the nice weather and people want to be outside more.

Don't feel any pressure to do more than you know is right for you and your family.

I love reading your blog and I'm also glad you are taking some ME time. Well deserved :)
Enjoy your weekends and the family !!!

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

We Did It!

We raised $5597 at FirstGiving.com We raised $25 on Facebook with Paypal Ryan and Deb raised $1000 for a new website . And? That puts us over the top! Even when we factor in any fees that Paypal, Firstgiving, or Ryan incur due to credit card use fees, we are over. So. What does that mean? We are on our way! At Midwest Assistance Dogs, they are excited about training a dog for Chickadee. It's a unique situation that has never been done before, so I appreciate all of you being supportive and open minded about it. We are still discovering the ways that Chickadee can be benefited by her Service Dog. So, I'm working with the director. He is reviewing our life, and bouncing ideas off me as to what will work. What does that mean? I don't have a specific doggie, or date yet. It depends on what is realistic for the dog to learn, and for Chickadee/I to be able to help it execute. Basically it's gonna take time, research and experimentation. Usually? i...

Scale Smackdown

The Challengers Mother-in-Law's scale weight 201.0 lbs. fully clothed (she keeps it in the kitchen!) Boring-at-Home scale Does she have it in her? Through stress, and Easter and Pig Pickin? Could she possibly lose? Or has it been too much to combat TOM, Chocolate, and Baked Goods all in the same 10 days? And the answer is . . . YES!!! 196.8 Pounds. So much for flirting with Onederland!
