How Do I Turn it Off?

My most embarrassing moment because Mrs Fatass shamed me and my previous acceptance from Skinny Sushi  was a poor excuse for embarrassment. From peeing my underwear at prom to having to having my doctor tell me I wouldn't have eczema if I just used lotion-there are more embarrassing things in my life than a toddler yelling at me while I barf.

So thanks to Helen at Doing a 180 for giving me another chance to be embarrassed!  She is working very hard at her fitness journey, and is more committed than most people I know.  She is persistent, consistent and optimistic.

and F. McButterpants at To The Best of My Ability for also giving me this award!  She is incredibly funny and persevering.  She has a lot of fun and works out her problems honestly.  I'm very impressed.

So, for the most embarrassing moment.  Well, for many of you this would not have been embarrassing at all.  But, I was not lying when I told someone I would blush so uncontrollably in certain situations that it would not be hard to mistake my complexion as being 'koolaid' red. So, when Mr. Survival and I went out to dinner-for the third night-with the 'party' group I should have been more prepared.

There were many jokes to get me blushing.  But, I wasn't really discombobulated until they brought out the mixed drinks menu and they started ordering

THIS

Then they started joking with their classy European accents that they didn't know what the word meant and said it around a thousand times.  The jokes started too, like "It'll be the last you'll have for a few weeks" and "ooh, ooh dahling, give me another ___".  Seriously.

Each time I felt a wave of blood.  Soon I was getting sea sick from the blood rush.  I just couldn't stop blushing.  I would like to know how to turn that off.  Really.  I've heard worse, I just couldn't stop blushing.  People are so abruptly frank in their second languages.  No innuendoes, just flat out and abrupt.  I can't help it.  It's like someone's pouring it into my face.

To make matters worse, the 'party' group is some of the most influential out there.  I'm blushing again just thinking about it.  Three of them wanted to make sure I was okay and to apologize if needed afterward.  I am an American prude, and they bought me dinner.  All I wanted to was to sit idly by and pass the time quietly unnoticed.

No such luck.

Tell me your embarrassments!

  1. Oh I would have been beet red right along with you. Such a blusher I am.

  2. Sorry honey but your embarrassment is my chuckle for the day. I've heard blushing is genetic - no way to to turn it off. Maybe if you'd had one of those drinks? (Which I know is against your religion.)

  3. @Karen, I wish you would have been! Anything to distract.

@Helen, the real deal-sorry I'm doing the blood rush again-an hour before didn't help. I'm not so sure alcohol would've helped. Given the Irish I think it's probably better not to risk the religion. Eh?

  4. I blush, too, but I suspect I would cause YOU to blush with my potty mouth if you went out with me in person. However, I do mutter, so you have a fighting chance of not hearing me. :-)

  5. @Mrs. Happy Pants-I know! I don't mind a potty mouth. But apparently my face does. So, a mutter might work well.

  6. So... was the drink... 'effective'?

Now I am blushing too :-)

    Cheers,

  7. I'm a blusher too, and was told once that we will never get wrinkles because of the amazing circulation in our faces. That sounds good, eh?

It's Here

We got the moving truck rather unexpectedly. It's more expensive than Mr. Survival planned, so we're doing a lot of lifting, cardio, and squats. No. We're not doing the bootcamp in a trailer. We ARE moving things to the new garage, since we can't move in yet, but they're being kind enough to let us dump in a storage manner. Sorry. I'll have to beg your forgiveness and promise to update you. Eventually.

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...
