Getting Back On Track

After last week, I'm ready to get back on track. We're traveling to Nawth Cackilacky (North Carolina) for miss THANG's Spring Break. I'm getting ready.

I'm ready to get my 20 miles in. I've noticed my back hurting a lot since missing three days in a row. My knees have been hurting too. That hasn't happened in over 6 weeks. Which makes me feel good.

So I guess I'm a convert to the steady benefits of exercise.

Time to get BACK ON TRACK!

How're you doing with your exercise? C'mon I'll be your cheerleader.

  1. How wonderful that you have the feeling you need that exercise! That means that you've made it an important part of your life - I'm not sure, but I think I've done that too. Yesterday was my day off from the gym - and guess what, I went there!

  2. Have a good trip to NC. After the rain that's up the whole eastern seaboard ends, it's going to be a beautiful warm/hot week. Perfect for upping that exercise.

I'm with you - the nee is allowing me to do more and more, and I'm ready! Even did an hour of yard work yesterday! Safe travels!

  4. @Weighting Around-Get OUT! hehe. That's is cool that you did it on your day off. Good job.
@Leslie-Will do. We'll be in DC Wednesday night and NC Thursday. So, I've got a bit of time. I hope your week goes well and gets you back to 'normal'. Let me know how that is when you find it.
@Miz-*jumping on* Looks good on you!

  6. Isn't it weird (and cool) when you suddenly realize you're beginning to enjoy exercise, or at least its benefits? Last week I discovered I've become the Run to Beat Stress Girl instead of the EAT to Beat Stress Girl, and it's a cool change.

  7. I'm slowly getting back on track. However, things keep happening that are beyond my control. The gym I go to is closed for spring break since it's part of the University. But I've been walking too. So I'm trying to do something.

I'm glad you're doing well. I hope you have a great vacation.

  8. I am a convert too! I have been so frustrated this week, being derailed by my shoulder injury. The scale has creeped up and I think that is why. I miss my gym classes and dreamed about one last night.

  9. I think too many days off in a row makes me creaky too?

Oooh, oooh, oooh, I wanna go to North Carolina. Nothin' could be finer!

  10. @skinnysushi- I love it. WooT for "Run to Beat Stress Girl". It feels super good doesn't it?
@kathyj333- slowly is good. It's easiest to adapt that way! Doing something is the key. Time's going to pass, you might as well be a tiny bit better. I think you're doing great!
@WaistingTime- I love that you dreamed about your classes. I hope that injury gets eliminated soon.
@Helen- too many surgeries make me a creaky premature mess. I can hardly walk on my foot that I smashed at nineteen. Unless I've been running!

  11. I'm all screwy with exercise since the kiddos are home for spring break. I miss my routine. I'll be glad to be back on track with it!

    Have a great trip!

  12. Umm, like, coming to North Carolina the state where I live?

  14. If you don't use it, you'll loose it! That's my motto. I always hurt if I don't walk. So I walk!

I wish I was going somewhere fun for Spring Break. Good for you and your family.

I am back on track this morning. Off to walk on the treadclimber right after I hit publish!

  18. First, welcome to the Cackalack! We are glad to have you!

Second, @MrsFatAss... You live in NC? Why don't I know this?

Both - Where in NC are you visiting/living?

  19. Hey! Thanks for your comment on my blog. You're so sweet. Now that you asked I did my very first Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout today! Oh my my was it hard! It kicked my butt and I am going for 6 days of workouts this week! YAY for getting back on track.

  20. @Marisa (Loser for Life)- That's enough to make this mama witchy and all other rhymes beginning with the "b" rhyme and "tw" rhyme. You do sound like you're having fun though. You seem like a fun mama-keep up the good work. Especially the exercise I saw you posted!

@MrsFatass- What, do I have to do? If I recall, you are directly in the path of our destruction. Beg you to meet me at your fave restaurant?

@F McButter Pants- You said it sistah. I've had hip, knee, and oral surgery. The only one that isn't helped my my exercise is the mouth. Actually I'm a teeth grinder so it probably helps that I'm not as stressed. The trip might not be fun, but you'll hear about it either way. :) HOORAY for being on the rails again! I saw you've done a great job.

@Corletta- You rock the institution of exercise. You really are getting there what with your new low and all. Awesome!

    @Katie J- Thanks I will on Wednesday/Thursday. It'll be fun.

@karen@fitnessjourney- Thank you, I will. You are right. My knees appreciate a really good stretch. I need to do better not to get swept up by the morning family needs. And always STRETCH.

@Diane Fit to the Finish- Hip Hip Hooray! You obviously are good with exercise. You rock.

@Ben (@benamteal)- Why thank yew. I'll be in the RTP area aka the Triangle aka the Duke/UNC/NCState love fest. I think perhaps @MrsFatass doesn't WANT to tell you...OUCH!

@River- I must confess to being bedazzled by your lovely avatar. Caught my eye. Very pretty. Happy Last Chance Workouts BABY! That's awesome. Keep going!

  24. I am doing pretty good on the exercise.

The body adapts to exercise pretty fast and I do miss it when I don't get out and walk.

    Wishing you safe travels.

  25. Good on you for getting back to it, dispite the sore back & knees. I find that i pay for it when i miss days too!

I Found True Happiness

It feels like I've become a detached voice, writing but not feeling on this blog.  I'm living a lot of things that don't fit neatly into my bloggable ownership file. Even now, I've spent an hour with this tab open to write a new post and I've done absolutely everything else possible.  For once I can't put a finger on what I'm feeling.  I don't fit into any definable box. On one hand, I'm spending an hour in therapy with Chickadee and another hour round trip three times a week. Mr. Survival is fighting off unemployment blues. We cannot shake things up and have me go to work. I'm not going to go to FitBloggin'11 . But, on the other hand, Chickadee is STANDING in the stander for minutes instead of seconds! Chickadee is grasping things momentarily for the first time in eighteen months. I'm so in love with Mr. Survival it's unbelievable. We are tighter as a family than we ever have been. I'm stressed and frustrated.  I...

Flying With Concrete

Today I wanted to write about my dreams. Full of hope and bliss and fulfillment. Yeah, I sound about as light as a bucket of cement. Ready to fly away. Hang on, while I toss out the top of the pile. Maybe that will help me find my lofty aspirations. Nope. Thing is, I'm remembering today that I'm afraid of heights. Really. Once Hubbend made me climb up three stories of scaffolding. Broke it all down for me and left me no other choice. Made me feel irreplaceable. Yes, we must remember that I am crazy friends. Leave it to me to feel important by being told to go up a towering structure of death. I did it though. And I even wired a speaker while I was up there. But I'm still afraid of heights. So. Do you wanna help me out today? For every comment that tells me something someone wants to be able to do that they can't do now I will do one minute of exercise. Really. Because of my child care situation, it will have to be tomorrow morning. So have at it. ...

We Did It!

We raised $5597 at FirstGiving.com We raised $25 on Facebook with Paypal Ryan and Deb raised $1000 for a new website . And? That puts us over the top! Even when we factor in any fees that Paypal, Firstgiving, or Ryan incur due to credit card use fees, we are over. So. What does that mean? We are on our way! At Midwest Assistance Dogs, they are excited about training a dog for Chickadee. It's a unique situation that has never been done before, so I appreciate all of you being supportive and open minded about it. We are still discovering the ways that Chickadee can be benefited by her Service Dog. So, I'm working with the director. He is reviewing our life, and bouncing ideas off me as to what will work. What does that mean? I don't have a specific doggie, or date yet. It depends on what is realistic for the dog to learn, and for Chickadee/I to be able to help it execute. Basically it's gonna take time, research and experimentation. Usually? i...
